The first day of harvest was September 1, 2017. This brings our 2017 harvest to a more normal range than last year when we started picking 11 days earlier than this year. We hand pick all of our grapes and this year we started with our La Crescent grapes. As of this week, we have processed over 100 tons.
The quality of our grapes looks excellent! We don’t have any of the powdery mildew problems that the Okanagan is suffering from. The more recent cooler weather has slowed things right down. This is a blessing for us as it provides the perfect conditions to create the elegantly acidic wines that we take pride in.
We expect harvest to continue well into October.
