About the Competition

The WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada had been taking the pulse of Canada’s wine quality by assembling over 20 judges from several provinces to taste almost 2000 wines over five days. The wines entered into this competition must be 100% grown and produced Canadian wine. Wine Align first started back in 2001 and is the most respected and important Canadian wine competition.

How the Medals Work

All wines entered according to the regulations will be tasted and assessed in a first or preliminary round. Judges will use the 100-point system used by our critics at WineAlign. Based on its score, a wine will be eligible to move to a second and possibly third round to determine the competition’s best wines. Based on achieving the following scores, your wines will be awarded one of the following medals.

PLATINUM (Canada’s Best Wines) – The top 1% scoring wines of the competition.
GOLD medals = 91+ points
SILVER medals = 89 – 90 points
BRONZE medals = 88 – 87 points
